'Allo Nano! iPods Go Size Zero

Apple invigorates 4" iPod touch and 2.5" nano for a new generation.

The 7th generation iPod nano has been given a bigger 2.5" touch display; Bluetooth for a wireless connection to speakers; Fm tuner (with live pause) and seven new colours:  pink, yellow, blue, green, purple, silver and slated for A$169.

"And were bringing video back to nano," Phil Schiller, Apple SVP Marketing declared to a bust of applause from the packed audience in New York today.

Nano is also integrated with fitness features, a pedometer and Nike+.

The size zero iPod nano--some are saying the new nano looks suspiciously like the Nokia Lumia 2011 model--is paper thin at 5mm and almost half the size of predecessor.

But also has longer battery life of 30 hours. Not bad.

But Apple design team has given nano a new larger "home" button, to help control volume play, pause or change songs "without looking" and rejiged the home screen. The wallpaper on the screen also matches the body's cute colours.

Apple has also redesigned iTunes, added a new player, iCloud integration and a new look for music, apps, TV and movie stores.

They also ditched their earphones and EarPods, which it says is a "breakthrough design" for a more "natural fit."

"More beautiful, more portable, feature rich" than ever before Schiller declared, adding it is "by far the best nano we've created."

New iPod touch
Over 350 million iPods have been sold worldwide, Apple marketing guru told the audience in New York, as the hero iPhone 5 was also unveiled.

iPod touch has also been given a much needed makeover. It features a 4" Retina display; 5mp iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording; Apple's A5 chip; Siri assistant; built-in Facebook integration on iOS 6.

It's capable of 40 hours of music playback and up to eight hours of video playback and is super skinny at 6 mm thin and weighs 8g.

The 4" player comes in light anodised aluminium design, and comes in pink, yellow, blue, white & silver, black & slate.

Like the new iPhone 5, the 5MP camera on touch has the panorama feature that lets you capture wide photos by moving the camera across a scene.

The new touch also includes: built-in Facebook integration with ability to post directly from Siri; Shared Photo Streams via iCloud; iMessage, FaceTime, Mail and Game Center.

Users can also display your iPod touch on a HDTV wirelessly with AirPlay Mirroring, and stream photos, videos, music, apps and play games that can be viewed on the big screen.

Both iPod touch and nano come with the new Lightning connector, but worry not existing iPod owners as a Lightning-to-30-pin Adapter is available to hook up older Apple accessories.

iOS 6 will also be available as a free software update for iPod touch (fourth gen) uers

Pre-orders for the iPod touch begin 14 September and set you back A$329 for the 32GB model and $439 for the 64GB and will hit stores in October

iPod nano will be available in October in 16GB model, however if you want a red version models of iPod nano touch and shuffle, you can only get Apple's retail stores.
