Belkin have announced a new line of cables with "unprecedented durability" built in collaboration with Kevlar maker DuPont.

Belkin Launches Durable Lightning Cables With Kevlar Technology
The DuraTek Lightning to USB Cables are manufactured with smart design features and high quality materials to protect against damage, including DuPont Kevlar fiber strands built into the cables.

"With the growing dependence upon mobile devices, a steadfast charging option that can keep up with our busy lifestyles is becoming a necessity for Australian consumers," said Josh Caulfield, head of product management ANZ, Belkin.

Other features include a longer flexible strain relief to prevent the common issue of breakage, an outer jacket designed with abrasion-resistant double-braided nylon and insulation that is "highly flexible" to reduce damage caused by friction.

Kevlar is perhaps best known for its use in bullet resistant vests, but Dupont global brand leader Lynne Chappel noted the fiber "has brought lightweight, flexible strength and temperature resistance to electro-mechanical cables for severe loads and in harsh environments, from the bottom of the ocean to the surface of Mars."

Belkin's DuraTek Lightning to USB Cables are part of the company's MIXIT range, and are available in signature Apple colours including black, gold, rose-gold and silver. The cables are available now from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Myer for RRP $39.95.
