Hisense Reveal New Android TV's Major Announcements At CES

By David Richards | Monday | 09/12/2013

Hisense the Chinese brand that is fast becoming a household brand in Australia is set to make several major announcements at CES with one of the announcements tipped to be a TV platform partnership with Google.

Ahead of the CES show the Company has announced three H6 series Smart TVs, based on the Android 4.2.2 platform along with a new Pulse PRO set-top streaming box.

The new products which are set to launched in Australia next year will be available in 40" 50" and 55-inch TV screen sizes and will all be equipped with Marvell's latest ARMADA 1500 Plus (88DE3108) HD Media processor.

The new Android based Hisence models have been released as Google gets set to reveal an Android powered Nexus TV set-top box early in 2014 with some observers claiming that it could be shown at CES in partnership with Hisense who are believed to be the manufacturer of the new Nexus branded STB.

The device that is tipped to be similar to the Apple TV, only with Android at its core, will allow users to stream content from content partners, as well as make use of apps and play games downloaded from the Play Store.

Insiders claim that the Nexus TV box was originally intended to be launched at Google I/O this year before being replaced by the HDMI wireless streaming dongle, the Google Chromecast.

Now tipped for an early 2014 launch with speculation mounting that it could be part of major Hisense announcement.
The Google Nexus TV box will reportedly tackle the wider home entertainment market, with an integrated camera and motion sensor bringing the likes of Skype to the set-top box.

The new Hisence Pulse PRO delivers the Smart functionality of the H6 TVs, including access to services such as Netflix, Vudu HD Movies, Amazon Instant Video, Chrome, YouTube, Google Play, Google Voice Search, PrimeTime, Android-based TV v4 media streaming, a Marvell BG2-CT board with 1GB RAM and 4GB Flash, HDMI-In/Out, IR-In/Out, DLNA, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB and an air mouse remote with mic and motion sensing.

The services will be amended for the Australian market.

The new TV sets all boast an EasyView natural user interface triggered by a simplified air mouse remote control (also supplied with the Pulse PRO box).

"Android delivers on the promise of Smart. Today, by seamlessly coupling Hisense's television expertise, Marvell's high performing and innovative ARMADA 1500 Plus platform and Android's connectivity and interactivity, Hisense is delivering on the promise of a truly smart TV - and making it accessible to broad markets across the globe," said Jonathan Frank, a  Hisense marketing VP.

"We are proud to bring Google services for Smart TV to the market with the H6 and the Pulse PRO. Hisense provides a comfortable lean-back experience, with an elegant, simple remote with mic for voice control and functionality that is simply phenomenal.  And if you're not quite ready to invest in a new TV, but would like the latest and greatest Android platform, get the Pulse PRO set-top box."

Both the sets and the Pulse PRO box come with the Hisense Social TV app and Hisense Cloud Services Hi-Media player and receiver. The TV sets also have 1GB of RAM and 8GBs ROM.
