The core objective of the Samsung design team was to enhance a user's viewing experience by making their new curved TV more immersive. They needed to identify what was the most natural comfortable viewing position for a curved screen so that there was better connectivity between one's eyes and the curved shape of the screen.
To obtain a better immersive display and sound experience Samsung engineers had to identify what was the ideal radius for curve and applied it to their new TV range so that they delivered the best viewing conditions and improved sound.
They started by researching the human eye and the way one watches a TV display. For years, movie studios have said that the best TV viewing experience is via a curved screen similar to what is found in a movie theatre or IMAX cinema.
After extensive research the designers came up with an optimum radius of 4200mm, this was based on how we lived, watched TV and above all the size of the rooms where one normally watches a TV.
Taken into account was the average size of a living room in the US and EU which after much research they concluded was 4.87 metres.
Samsung claims the new design delivers the perfect viewing condition for a TV and that the curve puts every corner of the screen at the same distance from the eye which in turn delivers the most comfortable viewing for a TV.

They then added an all new metal 'Aero Stand' with a diagonal neck that minimises "the visual interference" and makes the screen float which in turn enhances the immersion one gets from watching this TV.
Samsung designers then moved to deliver the sound directly to the viewer by using walls in the gap between the screen and the bezel.

They claim that our eyes are rounded, and the spectrum we see is of a rounded nature, therefore, looking onto a concaved object is always easier and more appealing to the eye than looking upon flat surface.

Their designers claim that best picture quality is obtained when viewed from a distance of 3-4 meters, the combination of the curve and UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive viewing experience, bringing images to life and enveloping viewers in spectacular colour, clarity and above all detail.
When it comes to the display quality, the HU9000 curved UHD TV has a built in proprietary Auto Depth Enhancer, which automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth, giving a 3D-like effect without the need for glasses.
Colour is further enhanced on these sets with Samsung's Pure Colour technology, which reproduces colour as film-makers envisioned.
New UHD up-scaling, is now featured on all Samsung UHD TV's this proprietary technology converts Full HD, HD and lower resolution sources to nearly-UHD clarity through a unique four-step process that includes signal analysis, noise reduction, detail analysis and finally, up scaling.
UHD Dimming technology also helps to further optimize picture quality by processing each block of a picture and delivering deeper blacks and improved contrast.
Samsung Curved UHD line up (HU9000) comes in 78", 65", and 55". The Samsung UHD line-up (HU8500) will be available across leading retail outlets in five screen sizes, 65", 55" and 48".

To make the complete curve clean on the back, the high-end technology including the camera module were incorporated to avoid any bumps.
The real metal stand follows the screens curve creating a beautiful balance, it was pressed and bent with a pure aluminium block to amplify the natural hair-line texture of real metal plate.
