As exclusively revealed last week by ChannelNews, Netgear's Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Smart WiFi Router is set land in the Australian market.

Supercharging Smart Homes: Nighthawk X8 Oz-BoundNetgear is set to launch a number of new products along with the Nighthawk X8, designed to support the smart home, including its Nighthawk X4 AC2200 WiFi Range Extender, along with its Arlo Q 1080p HD Security Camera with Audio and new ReadyNAS devices.

As reported by ChannelNews, the Nighthawk X8, delivering combined Wi-Fi speeds of up to 5.3 Gbps (1000 Mbps + 2166 Mbps + 2166 Mbps), is packed with features, decked out for multiple connections.

The Nighthawk X8's Wave 2 Wi-Fi features include tri-band, quad-stream, and MU-MIMO capability for "the ultimate performance and experience in whole-home networking".

Netgear states its Nighthawk X4 is the industry's first AC2200 wall-plug range extender with MU-MIMO technology, maximising the range of an existing Wi-Fi router up to 10,000 square feet, streaming HD data to multiple devices at speeds of up to 2.2 Gbps (450 Mbps + 1733 Mbps).

Netgear's Arlo Q camera, meanwhile, is designed for easy connection to an existing Wi-Fi network, delivering 1080p HD video, two-way audio communication, customisable sound or motion alerts, built-in night vision capabilities and seven days of free cloud storage for videos.

Netgear's new network attached storage (NAS) devices include the ReadyNAS 212 and ReadyNAS 214, delivering real-time 1080p HD video transcoding capability, allowing viewing of HD content on any screen, anywhere at home and over the internet.

"With the connected device market expected to reach $3.2 million in Australia by 2019, what we are seeing is an evolution of connectivity rather than revolution," Brad Little, vice president and managing director Netgear A/NZ, commented.

"What this means is connectivity is being added into existing products and services - such as whitegoods, security and energy devices. As this trend continues, Netgear will be at the forefront of delivering devices that drive this connectivity."
