While it is apparently common for people to use their smartphones in bed, it is eyebrow-raising, to some at least, to hear the latest news that 9 percent of adult people – well, Americans at least – admit to using the gadgets while actually having sex.
According to the 2013 Mobile Consumer Habits study from Harris Interactive, 20 percent of adults in the 18-34-year old bracket admit to having used a smartphone while having sex. And 12 percent admitted that their smartphone got in the way of their relationship.
But adults aren’t just using their phones in bed. They use them all over the place.
According to the report, 12 percent of people use them in the shower, 19 percent at church, 35 percent at the movies, while 33 percent will check their phones during a dinner date and 32 percent will pull out their phones at a child’s school function.
