Audiovox, who is looking for distributors in Australia, has launched a Powerline wireless HDMI transmission system that allows both1080p HD video and audio content to be transmited over existing electrical cables in a house.
The new devices that will be sold under the Acoustic Research brand can be installed by both electricians and custom installers.
According to CEPRo in the USA, Dave Crupi, senior product manager for Audiovox, says the system, shipping under the Acoustic Research brand, offers a solution that can be used in existing and new homes to distribute HDMI without additional cabling. “In terms of how its packaged, it comes with one receiver, one transmitter, HDMI cables, a wall mount kit, a stand-up kit, a quick-start guide and a full owner’s manual.”
This is the first Company to release a product that will transmitt 1080p content. It also has provisions for IR control.
Crupi also told CEPro that they were set to target the CEDIA Channel “It was designed and it is marketed to retail, but we are also marketing to various CEDIA dealers,” he notes. “Frankly, at the last CES we showed it to them [custom installers] and they were excited about it because in a retrofit, they can use it instead of crawling on their bellies pulling cables.” he said.
“The basic agreement with Homeplug and Panasonic [the chip maker Audiovox is using] is that they could work together,” says Crupi.
