More than 2.5 million Microsoft Surface Pro tablets are now affected by the recall of AC power cords that were bundled with the Microsoft tablet.
Overnight the US Consumer Product Safety Commission urged owners of Surface Pro tablets to contact Microsoft. The affected AC Cords were bundled with models sold in Australia.
Microsoft has yet to comment on the scale of the recall but the big software Company confirmed yesterday that Microsoft is recalling over 2.25 million cords.
The affected models are the Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3 models sold before 15 March 2015.
The recall follows Microsoft receiving 56 reports of “AC cords overheating and emitting flames and five reports of electrical shock to consumers”, the Commission said.
Microsoft recently confirmed it would handle all customer recalls itself.
“Consumers should unplug and stop using the recalled power cords and contact Microsoft for a free replacement AC power cord,” the Commission added.
