S5 is a global hit, just weeks after it went on sale.According to Localytics, the new Galaxy S5 already accounts for 0.7% of all active Android smartphones worldwide, less than two weeks after it went on sale.

The S5 appears to be a massive hit especially in the US, where majority of the take-up was recorded – at 64% – while Europe (23%) and ‘Other’ countries accounted for just 13%.

Although not quite as popular as iPhone 5S, which accounted for 1.1% of iOS handsets days after release, it looks like S5 is very close to its Apple rival in terms of take-up.

The 5.1″ Galaxy S5 went on sale in a slew of countries globally on April 11, including Australia, with an Aussie the first to get their hands on the new Android smartphone with 16mp camera, Full HD screen, waterproof, and works as a mobile wallet with several Aussie banks already on board.

All the main telcos and retailers including JB Hi-Fi expect the new S5 to be one of the biggest selling phones of 2014.
