The highly affordable and highly premium device was first unveiled at IFA 2019, revealing TCL’s intention of extending the brand’s display expertise into the smartphone market.
TCL’s PLEX smartphone will offer Australian consumers ‘excellence in display technology, camera and design’ claims Sam Skontos, VP & Regional Managing Director South East Asia & Pacific, TCL Communication, pushing the new smartphone as a ‘cinema’ in you pocket.
Featuring TCL NXTVISION display optimisation and camera technology, the PLEX will have your ‘screen come to life with enriched colour, clarity and contrast’.
The phone features a 6.53-inch FHD+ TCL Dotch Display, with a 90% screen-to-body ratio.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, the phone boasts 6GB of ram + 128GB ROM, with expandable memory up to 256GB, and will run Android 9.
The included 3820mAh battery can be quick-charged to 50% in just 32 minutes, with a full charge after an hour and 45 minutes.
A wide variety of adaptability features have been included to reduce eys strain and improve overall user experience, including Eye Comfort Mode and Adaptive Tone.
The TCL PLEX features a triple camera set up, with 48MP, 16MP, a 24MP front-facing camera, plus a dedicated night-vision 2MP camera.
ChannelNews reckons the TCL PLEX seriously throws down the gauntlet in the premium smartphone market, for just $500, it gets all the basics right and it has top-end capabilities.
