Android Television has become a media platform for the top television networks in Australia such as Channel 7 and the ABC. Yahoo7 is currently the only company which is offering a great experience for viewers.
The Xiaomi Mi Box is currently only being used by Yahoo7. However, the ABC now has the potential to be the second network to use this box. Xiaomi Box owners now can install the iview Android TV app from the play store.
This application first appeared on Thursday when an individual found this app on the Play Store. However, the Nexus Player and Sony Bravia had the opposite reactions when they were unable to find the iview app from the store.
The app still has not been officially released and even with some individuals using this new form of technology there are still a couple of missing features. The iview app cannot accommodate binge watching. It will play the next episode on its own after a specific countdown.
The Android TV app has raised the bar slightly after the launch. Even with the gravity of this product at 7, ABC and Channel 9 still don’t have the capabilities for this full app and all it entails for their networks and viewers.
Now for Stan and Netflix, some of the most famous video and streaming services they do have the Android TV app, but it’s another service which is Foxtel. The Android TV Powered Puck will launch later in the year. More ground work will need to be done to expand Android development and growth within Australia.
This product is expected to sell for about $100 after the launch date. Speculation for this product and it’s uses has only occurred because it currently works on two devices not sold in Australia. The ABC is clearly testing these new products, before they comment further on the expansion. The app is looking good overall and should be available later in the year.
