D Link has launched two new security cameras that are significantly cheaper than what’s on offer from Netgear’s Arlo range, despite them performing equally as well.

The all-new $199 DCS-8100LH camera is a simple but cleverly designed HD720p camera that has 180-degree field of view and a 4X digital zoom.

This camera delivers almost everything you need, missing is two way audio, facial recognition and triggered event recording which are features that if you need can be found in a more expensive camera.

Ideal for an office, child’s bedroom or a garage this camera has a 180 Degree Wi-Fi capability and can be easily hooked up to D Links Connected Home network where other devices can be attached.

One feature that I found useful was that it can be controlled using Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa with the Amazon and Google offering the camera was able to be set up using voice.

It also has a built-in IR LED to provide 5m of night vision in complete darkness.

I initially set this camera up in the foyer of our office this allowed me to set it up and get push notifications when the office was not occupied.google asst dcS 8100lh REVIEW: D Link $199 DCS 8100LH HD720p camera Stacks Up

Users can receive automatic push alert notifications, so they are always aware of what’s going on in their home or office.

I Set-up of the Mini HD Wi-Fi camera quickly though I did have an initial problem getting it to recognise a network. When this issue was resolved the image was clear even in low light.

I also liked the mount that came with this camera. The design allowed one to configure the camera to a set position.
