As Telstra roll out 21Mbps broadband using Qualcomm processor Acer has announced that that they are also set to launch a new Snapdragon powered laptop running a new Qualcomm processor.
The processor that is currently used in the Toshiba TG01 heralds a major move by Qualcomm into the notebook market said senior vice president for Europe Enrico Salvatori.
In an interview with Pocket Lint at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona he said “We are working with Acer on a device of that nature”, Salvatori said when pressed on which companies would be using the new chipset in a laptop.
Qualcomm hopes its Snapdragon chipsets will allow it to offer a more vital competitor in mini-laptops as it takes on PC processor makers Intel, AMD and Via.
The Qualcomm chipsets come with 1GHz Arm processing cores and Qualcomm technology to connect mini-laptops and other gadgets to 3G mobile phone networks.
