Acer has stunned eveyone by outselling every other LCD TV brand in Australia According to the latest GFK sales research. The LCD TV range was only launched two months ago.
According to the latest GFK research Acer has after only 2 months in the marketing and following an extensive advertising campaign which included SmartHouse Magazine the SmartHouse web site and the use of SmartHouse light boxes at Australian airport snared the #1 slot for LCD TV sales in Australia.
September 2005 figures confirm that Acer is the Number 1 vendor in the LCD TV market with 13.4 per cent* market share – ahead of traditional TV vendors LG, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic and NEC. In the combined Flat Display Panel TV (Plasma, LCD TV and Rear Projection) market, Acer is number 4 overall. In July 2005 Acer launched into the LCD TV market with three models, 20″, 26″ and 32″ with the goal to be a top three LCD TV vendor by 2009 – a goal that has been smashed in just two short months.

Acer Marketing Director, Raymond Vardanega, explains Acer’s success in this segment. “Two months ago we declared that the world is flat – we were right. Our LCD TV range gives users a stylish, well built and great value unit combined with an industry leading three years Onsite warranty with the full backing of a global PC vendor. How many vendors can offer that? “Our rapid rise in the LCD TV market reinforces how Acer’s focus on horizontal integration rather than vertical integration has proved a winning formula. Excellence in supply chain, strong channel support, speed and cost management have been core to our go-to-market strategies,” concluded Vardanega. The Acer LCD TV range combines style, functionality and exceptional value for money, with units starting at $899 and the top of the range 32″ model retailing for just $2,199. In fact, independent reviews by Australian media outlets have found the Acer 32″ LCD TV to be of a high standard in all areas – sound, image quality, price – earning it a Highly Recommended award in PC Authority magazine.
The Acer range is available through leading electrical retailers including Retravision, Bing Lee and Woolworths owned PoweHouse stores. Acer won’t do business with Harvey Norman.
