ACT Police are set to investigate the sale of Julia Gillards lost shoe which earlirer today was placed for sale on eBay.
As of 1.00pm the size 8 right foot, “Midas – Glorify,”shoe had attracted bids of $2,000 from a starting price of $148.
ACTpolice have not identified what crimes if any have been created. One officer said “There could be a crime but we have no offical report of a missing shoe”.
Shortly after the listing appeared eBay removed the listing which read For sale … ‘Julia Gillard’s Shoe’ is on eBay.

“You are bidding on a used shoe. Please bear in mind also this is a single shoe, not a pair, so it would be difficult to walk in, unless you’re the PM.”
It was not clear whether it was actually Ms Gillard’s missing shoe, but it seemed unlikely as the seller used news photographs from the protest on the listing.
A spokesman for eBay said the sale had been taken down because sellers can only list items they own. “We know the owner is the prime minister,” the spokesman said.
“The seller did not state anywhere that they had permission, so we’ve removed it.”
A lawyer told Smarthouse that if a person places an item on eBay for sale that they do not own they are committing an offence. They also said that ACT police would have an obligation to investigate if they got a complaint.
