Adobe Creative 5.5 Adds Support For Mobile Content

Adobe Systems’ latest release of Creative software has arrived, enabling designers and developers to unleash a wealth of creativity on smartphone and tablets.The Creative Suite 5.5 is a mid cycle release that includes essential innovations across Flash, HTML5, Video, Mobile App and digital publishing tools.

The company has also introduced a subcription model which it will expand across its customer base, as well as bringing Tablets into creative workflows.

New subscription editions will ensure customers are always working with the most up-to-date versions of the product, without the upfront cost of full pricing, the company said.

The company says it will now introduce new releases to its software at 24 month intervals, with the 5.5 aimed at keeping the creative commmunity one step ahead of content authoring.

“Now we see similar levels of demand and excitement around content such as business and government services, games and entertainment, and even education delivered on a wide array of devices including smartphones and tablets.”

The new Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium suite includes innovations in HTML5 and Adobe Flash, authoring tools, empowering customers to create, deliver and monetise rich content and applications for virtually any screen. 

 

Designers and developers can now deliver mobile applications on Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS, iOS and other platforms, create rich browser-based content across screens using HTML5, and leverage Flash Player to deliver premium video content, casual games and rich Internet applications. 

Tablets will also be able to interact with Photoshop from Android, BlackBerry and iOS devices.  Three new iPad applications, Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop can be used to drive common Photoshop workflows.

For video and audio professionals, the new Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium suite delivers breakthrough performance, workflow improvements, creative innovations, and powerful new audio editing capabilities in demand by broadcasters, filmmakers and video professionals worldwide.

In just one of the innovations, the powerful Adobe Mercury Playback Engine, introduced in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5, broadens its graphics processing unit (GPU) hardware support to include laptops and more supported cards, allowing users to open projects faster, get real-time feedback and work more smoothly at higher resolutions.

Innovations in digital publishing, deployed by some of the world’s leading magazine and business publishers, are also included.

Using InDesign CS5.5, in combination with the integrated Folio Producer toolset, designers can add new levels of interactivity such as video, audio, panoramic views, 360-degree object rotation, pan and zoom of images, integration of HTML and HTML5 content and other interactive overlays on their page layouts. 

 

With Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 now incorporated in Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium, and the Flex 4.5 framework, developers can also develop and deploy mobile applications to more than 200 million Android, BlackBerry Playbook and iOS devices anticipated to be in market by the end of 2011.

More than 131 million smartphones will also have Flash Player installed by the end of the year, expanding its support from Android, HP webOS and Google TV to the BlackBerry Tablet OS, upcoming versions of Windows Phone, as well as Samsung SmartTVS.

The complete Creative Suite 5.5 lineup includes Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection, Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium, Creative Suite 5.5 Web Premium, Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium and Creative Suite 5.5 Design Standard and will begin shipping next month. It will be available through Adobe Authorised Resellers, the Adobe Australia store.
