According to HTC magagement at this weeks launch of the Company’s 4G Velocity smartphone, the Taiwanese Company will not launch as many smartphones this year in Australia. Instead the Company will focus on new “hero” models in an effort to compete with the success of the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S 2.HTC Marketing Manager Jeremy Mathews acknowledged that the company had spent a lot of time in 2011 launching a variety of models such as two HTC Sensation Beats Technology phones instead of concentrating on a single model
Yesterday the head of HTC in the UK, Phil Robertson, said that the company needs to “get back to what made HTC great” after the Taiwanese manufacturer lost momentum in 2011.
He also confirmed to TechRadar that HTC will focus more on hero devices and cut back on the number of phones it releases in the coming year, after releasing a huge array of Android and Windows Phone devices last year.
Robertson said the company tried to do too much during the last calendar year, which contributed to its first fall in profits in the last two years, last quarter.
