Amazon is expanding the way users communicate with Alexa as the smart assistant can now be taught custom responses such as compliments and insults with the new Alexa Skill Blueprint.
Users can teach Alexa various personalised responses with a template offered via the Alexa Skill Blueprints website.
For the first time there will be no need for coding to customise Alexa.
Amazon says this helps Alexa users to build experiences into the smart assistant that are personalised to you and help make Alexa ‘more useful around your home’.
Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Alexa says “Alexa Skill Blueprints is an entirely new way for you to teach Alexa personalised skills just for you and your family.
“You don’t need experience building skills or coding to get started—my family created our own jokes skill in a matter of minutes, and it’s been a blast to interact with Alexa in a totally new and personal way.”
Users could ask, “Alexa, who is the best dad in the world” or “Alexa, what is the best city?” and customise responses to say a user’s hometown.
The Alexa Skill Blueprints available include home based skills, fun and games, storyteller and learning & knowledge.
Like the majority of Amazon products it is only available in the US with no word on a global roll out but there is a good chance there will be.
