It is easy to piece the system together: the satellites and desktop controller connect directly to the subwoofer, while the Auxiliary-In port on the controller allows a user to connect the system to a computer, MP3 player, and even gaming consoles (via RCA adapter).
The Desktop Controller controls the power, volume, bass, and treble of the system and is easy to use. It also comes with a headphone jack in case you want to listen to music or watch movies without disturbing anybody.
We connected the system to a digital radio, iPod, and notebook to test its audio performance. Music coming out of the speakers was clear and balanced, with the system not breaking up even at high volumes. Explosions in movies such as The Dark Knight were accounted for, with the subwoofer pushing the bass without problems.
Overall, the Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra is perfect for users who want a system that can fit in a small room. It clearly gets the job done, and for some, that is what really matters.
The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 has an RRP of $399.95.
