Amazon Australia has launched its 2019 Mid-Year Sale, featuring “tens of thousands” of discounted products, plus several daily ‘flash deals’ – e.g. 25% off Sony’s HT-S100F//C AU1 Slim Soundbar.
The promotion commences 09:00 on May 31 until midnight on June 30.
Deals include “at least” 15% off selected HP and Razer laptops, plus discounts on several Sony and Soniq TVs.
The e-commerce giant is also discounting several video games from EA, Activision, Sony and Ubisoft.
“With tens of thousands of products available at discounted prices and new deals going live every day through June, we hope our Mid-Year Sale provides something for everyone,” asserts Amazon Australia Country Manager, Rocco Braeuniger.
The news comes as the Australian retail sector continues to slump, despite notable online sale growth.
Commentators claim Amazon’s mid-year sale seeks to leverage EOFY interest before the peak June 30 period, intensifying price competition against traditional retailers.
Customers are advised to download the Amazon (Android/iOS) app for daily deals, alongside ‘Watch this Deal’ notifications.
The Mid-Year Sale offers lighting deals, which appear for a limited time only. Customers are restricted to one purchase per lightning deal.
Should lightning deals sell out, customers are asked to join a wait-list, and will receive a notification when the product is back in stock.
Also available are several 24 hour (or whilst stocks last) ‘Deals of the Day’, with Amazon providing Aussies access to its US Deals of the Days via its Global store offering on amazon.com.au.
After launching in December 2017, Amazon Australia has grown to over 125 million products, however, commentators assert there’s still some way to go before its price competition threatens traditional local retailers.
