The highly popular Amazon Kindle Fire which is proving to be one of the hottest Android tablets on sale today is set to go on sale in Australia in January; it’s expected to sell for around $250.
According to the Amazon source, the Kindle Fire will go on sale in several countries early 2012, and will cut into the sales of Apple’s dominating iPad.
The big attraction is that it is capable of downloading Amazon books as well as films, apps and music.
The device runs a heavily modified version of Google’s Android that is geared to host a variety of Amazon’s content. Amazon hopes to recoup income from consumers buying content, which would justify the low price of the Fire.

Currently in the USA the Kindle Fire is Amazon’s best-selling product. Analysts are tipping it’ll be the iPad’s most threatening rival.
The Kindle Fire’s X factor is its value for money. Pricing is expected around the $250 mark while Apples introductory iPad currently retails for $579.
The Kindle Fire is a seven inch device compared to Apple’s 9.7 inch iPad. However, a larger tablet and another smartphone is expected.
