Amazon’s Former Senior Manager and Lead for Alexa artificial intelligence, Ashwin Ram, has announced he’s jumped ship to rival Google – a move set to further intensify competition between the two tech giants.
The news comes as artificial intelligence integration within digital assistants continues to become a competitive strength.
In the smart assistant landscape, Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant are currently clear market leaders.
Recent reports claim Google has poached Mr Ram from Amazon, in a bid to increase its market lead.
Announced on LinkedIn, Mr Ram has been appointed Google’s Technical Director for AI for Google Cloud. His post is located in the Office of CTO.
Disclosed within his announcement, Ram affirms Google has “the best AI on the planet”, and his role will “help make AI even better”.
Following its employment of Ram, it’ll be interesting to see where Google’s advancements in artificial intelligence goes – specially within digital assistants.
