There are more social networkers logging into Facebook via their Android app than the iPhone counterpart for the first time since its release as Android pushes ahead of iPhone popularity in Australia.
Traffic data from AppData.com indicates that, as of December 16, Facebook for Android has more daily active users that the iPhone version, hitting 58 million ahead of Apple’s 57 million.
It’s a different story for monthly users though, as Android trails behind iPhone’s near-100 million with 86 million monthly active users.
The uptake of one of the most popular smartphone apps is an indicator of Android’s growing popularity. Android is currently the most popular smartphone operating system in Australia, with Samsung leading the Google software push.
According to the latest IDC data, Android has taken the number one smartphone position with a 49 percent market share.
