Angry birds have breached the confines of the smartphone screen and have flown onto the popular Facebook social network.
The game, which chronicles furious birds looking for their abducted young, has been downloaded 500 million times on smartphones. The Facebook iteration is almost identical, albeit on a larger screen and controlled with a mouse.
Also, players can purchase extra birds adding yet another revenue stream to the game.
Rovio’s Chief Marketing Officer, Peter Vesterbacka is hopeful 40% of Facebook users playing the game will end up purchasing in-game extras.
Remember when Angry Birds didn’t have a slideshow of Ads when you paused it? I miss those days.
Site NDTV claims no money has been spent on advertising or marketing Angry Birds, despite its success. In fact, a million Angry Bird toys and T shirts are sold every month.
