Apple to open flagship store in QueenslandThe store will be the 21st official retail outlet in Oz.
And it’s due to open this Friday on the ground floor of the old MacArthur Chamber in Queen Street, Brisbane CBD at 10am.
The store is located just minutes away from Apple reseller Next Byte’s store on Adelaide St. There are other Apple stores in Brisbane suburbs of Chermside and Carindale.
Apple’s Vice-President Worldwide Stores, Steve Cano told the Courier Mail he expects the store to be one of the country’s busiest.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done to restore that tremendous space, and to now call one of the city’s most historic buildings home,” he said.
“Queen Street is the city’s retail heart, so we fully expect the store to become one of the busiest in the country.” The project, which kicked off in 2011 was marred by contractor problems, and others associated with the redevelopment of the historic building.
The pictures from Apple Insider, shows a store that looks more like an Apple museum than an actual store with a distinctly classical feel to the outlay. Cano says the tech giant restored the building to its original glory.
“We’ve painstakingly restored the store using local materials and wherever possible salvaging and refurbishing the original elements of the building.”
The retail boss also talked up the in-store retail experience, as Internet sales continue to boom.
“There are certain things you can do that are only capable of happening in a retail experience.
“That personal connection, that face-to-face connection, that hands-on support, you can only get that in a retail environment.”
Apple are already taking reservations for workshops and the Genius Bar at the new store. The store will open Monday -Sunday.
