Apple is believed to have delayed the launch of its iPhone 5 in an effort to deliver superior software capabilities in their new offering, including NFC-enabled mobile payment as well as the ability to interface with a faster processor.
The Android 4.0 is tipped to be released in October 2011 in Australia with Telstra executives telling ChannelNews that several Android manufacturers will launch new phones in October running the new OS.

In a recent report, BGR called the new Google Android 4 offering an “absolute beast.”

Already under pressure from phones like the Samsung Galaxy S2 which has a larger, brighter screen and a faster processor, Apple is keen to deliver a superior software offering including iCloud content access.

According to several analysts, Apple is under pressure in the smartphone market as Android manufacturers move to launch fast processor Android models capable of deliver fast navigation mapping, as well as easy access to content from cloud services like Dropbox.  

Google’s next pure Android version, the Nexus 4G, will run on ‘Ice Cream Sandwich,’ or Android 4.0.
