SAN FRANCISCO – Apple has formally objected to a judge’s order directing the company to help government agents unlock a terrorist’s iPhone. The latest Apple filing is largely a procedural move in the court battle about privacy, security and encrypted data, but it underscores the company’s determination to fight the court order to unlock its iPhone – a move that it says would jeopardise the privacy of all users.

Apple has previously challenged Judge Sheri Pym’s order, but the new filing could preserve the company’s options if she upholds it and the company appeals.
