According to new research, Apple, who reported a 90% jump in net earnings this week, has captured 72% of the Japanese smartphone market.
By the end of March, Apple had 72.2% of the market with 2.34 million units, while its closest rival, HTC, had 11.1%. In third place is Toshiba, who recently told SmartHouse that they are currently reviewing the Australian market with a view to launching a new Windows-based phone.
The shipments were more than double the 1.1 million iPhones that were shipped a year earlier. Apple confirmed that shipments into Japan were up 183% in their latest revenue report.
