SAN FRANCISCO – Apple’s A7 processors in iPhones and iPads infringe a patent held by the University of Wisconsin, a court has ruled.A jury sitting in a US District Court found Apple
guilty of patent infringement. Damages have yet to be assessed but the
university is seeking $400 million.
Apple’s lawyers argued the amount should be a fraction of the $110 million
Intel paid in 2009 to settle an earlier dispute over the same patent, which
describes a way for processors to order the execution of instructions.
