After just 24 hours the Apple Lions update has garnered over a million downloads. The eighth major release running on the OS X platform, Apple claim Lion is there fastest operating system yet. Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller voiced his gratitude in a press release.
“Lion is off to a great start, user reviews and industry reaction have been fantastic, [it’s] is a huge step forward, it’s not only packed with innovative features but it’s incredibly easy for users to update their Macs to the best OS we’ve ever made.”
The update has been made available in 123 countries and includes over 250 new features. It also incorporates more touch based gestures, creating a more interactive computing experience and bridging the gap between MacBooks, iPads and iPhones.

The update retails for $31.99 in Australia and can be currently purchased via the Mac App store where the transaction is charged to your iTunes account. Apple claim the download is the equivalent size of a HD movie.
