Apple who are facing a downturn in demand for their iPhones while struggling to hold onto PC marketshare, have moved to upgrade their MacBook’s and this time they come in Pink and Gold and under the bonnet is Intel’s Skylake processor which helps deliver better integrated graphics Apple claim.
Apple says the new model will be overall about 20% speedier than last year’s MacBook’s.
The new MacBook, which now measures 13.1mm thick and weighs 1.04 Kilo, features a 12-inch Retina display, full-sized keyboard, Fore Touch trackpad and a single USB-C port.
The new Macs, packs in a sixth-gen dual-core Intel Core M processor, while the Intel HD Graphics 515 are said to deliver up to 25 percent faster graphics performance than its predecessor. The lithium-polymer battery has also been improved to Apple’s claim of 10 hours of web browsing and 11 hours of video playback.
One thing that didn’t change is the MacBook’s lonely, single USB Type-C port, which handles everything from charging the laptop to connecting displays, storage drives and any other accessory you may have.
The new MacBook also has PCIe-based flash storage for quicker app launching and file opening, said Apple.
In terms of design, the laptop features an all-metal unibody construction and comes in gold, silver, Space Grey and Rose Gold. It is available starting today on Apple’s website and will be available in Apple stores and select resellers tomorrow.
Configure-to-order options are also available.
Apple also announced that all 13-inch MacBook Airs would now include 8GB of memory. They previously started at 4GB. The 11-inch MacBook Air still comes in 4GB or 8GB versions.
