Despite demand for iPhones plummeting Apple is still confident that their new iPhone 7 will ignite demand for a product that witnessed a 200,000-unit slump in sales in Australia in the first 3 months of 2016 in Australia.
So confident is Apple that their new iPhone will be a success that the US company has started to place orders with parts suppliers for order of between 70 and 78 million units which is more than what analysts were tipping.
This is despite recent leaks that reveal the phones will look similar to the iPhone 6s – but will have enhanced internal components.
Recent images for the new iPhone 7, show a new rear camera, but with the same bevelled and protruding bump on the back casing.
However, the design of the camera does suggest improvements for better quality pictures and video.
The images also show the camera is aligned differently and is positioned closer to the top-left corner, reports 9to5Mac.
And playing into the redesign of the camera could be Apple’s most talked about feature, a dual-camera system – but just on the larger iPhone 7 Plus.
There are other rumours that say the iPhone 7 could be waterproof, which might be possible since there are fewer holes in the exterior.
This allegation coincides with Apple’s decision to omit the 3.5mm headphone jack, instead users will rely on Bluetooth and Lightning connector accessories.
Last month, Apple released its first quarter earnings for 2016, which showed a year-on-year drop in sales of its handset.
Apple says the slump in sales was caused by ‘macroeconomic headwinds’ and the iPhone 6 being ‘an anomaly’ as it offered an entirely new size handset.
Apple Australia has not explained why there was a major slump in demand for their iPhone in the first quarter of 2016. But by tacking an extra 10 million to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus order, the firms seem to believe this year will put growth back on track.
