Carriers Optus, Telstra and Vodafone along with mass retailers such as JB Hi Fi will reap the benefits next year if Apple move to releasing a new iPhone twice a year say analysts.
According to multiple sources Apple is looking to launch handsets twice a year in 2015 with an iPhone 6S believed to be in development, this is tipped for the first half and an iPhone 7 in the second half.
It’s been less than three months since Apple unveiled its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
The iPhone 6S is tipped to go on sale at the same time as Apple’s new Watch along with a new Beats Music service.
There is also speculation that the 5S and the ‘cheaper’ iPhone 5C will be killed off early in 2015.
Until 2013, Apple released one handset each year around September time. Last year, it used its September launch event to announce two new devices – its flagship iPhone 5S and the ‘cheaper’ iPhone 5C. This was followed by the launch of its iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus this year.
Claims were recently made in a report by Taiwan’s Industrial and Commercial Times that Apple iPhone manufacturers, Foxconn and Wistron are getting ready to stop production of the iPhone 5C.
Recently Apple killed off the Classic iPod, Apple boss Tim Cook, blamed it a lack of mechanical parts.
Speaking at the WSJD Live conference, Mr Cook said the tech giant no longer had access to the components needs to make the once iconic music player.
