Apple is reportedly developing a new contact-free wireless charging technology, tipped to be launched alongside next year’s iPhone 7S.
Bloomberg reported that Apple is “exploring cutting-edge technologies that would allow iPhones and iPads to be powered from further away than the charging mats used with current smartphones”.
The technology would allow iPhones and iPads to be charged anywhere in the home or office without being placed on a dedicated mat, Bloomberg said.
The new wireless system will arrive in 2017, according to Bloomberg’s sources, which means it will probably be included in next year’s iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus.
