Do you own an early model iPod Nanos that is having battery problems?
If so Apple is set to replace all first generation iPod models that were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
The problem according to several Apple forums is that the devices are overheating due to a manufacturing defect. What is not known is why Apple has taken so long to respond to the problem.
A recent post advises owners to stop using the device immediately and take action to fill in a replacement form to gain a replacement.
“This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages,” said the post.
Apple says it’ll take six weeks to receive your new nano, so get digging around your boxes of haggard old tech, because a shiny upgrade waits in the wings.
