Apple is getting ready for back-to-school time with its ‘affordable’ new MacBook Air and Pro – including display upgrades and a discount for University students.
Aussie uni students can now purchase a MacBook Air for a lower recommended retail price of A$1,549, while the 13-inch MacBook Pro will be available for A$1,849.
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro gets the biggest bump in terms of upgrades.
It will now come with a Touch Bar and Touch ID, and will also get the recently announced updated keyboard.
The Pro will come with a more powerful quad-core Intel Core i5 processor, slightly boosted graphics and the addition of a T2 security chip.
In terms of display, the Pro will now get True Tone technology for improved colour.
For the Air upgrades, True Tone tech and the new keyboard will be included.
These new, more affordable laptops will replace the older models which have been recently culled from Apple’s portfolio of MacBooks.
“College students love the Mac – it’s the notebook they rely on from the dorm room to the classroom, and the No.1 choice among higher education students,” said Tom Boger, Apple senior director of mac product Marketing.
“With a lower recommended retail price for University students, there’s never been a better time to bring a Mac to college.”
Apple’s global back-to-school promotion is already live, and the offer also includes Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with the purchase of the new MacBook.
