The Apple Watch may yet to have hit the market, however it is already receiving plaudits, taking home a gold iF Design Award 2015 in the product discipline category.Ahead of an anticipated April launch, the Apple Watch has been lauded by iF, which describes it as featuring “revolutionary new technologies, a pioneering interface, and a design that honours the rich tradition of watchmaking”.
The iF Design Award 2015 saw 4,783 entries by 2,102 participants from 53 countries, with a 53 member-strong jury comprised of international experts determining the winners.
Out of 3,209 submissions in the product discipline category, 1,124 were awarded with the iF label, with 47 taking home iF gold awards.
“The idea of combining classic materials such as leather and metal with state-of-the-art technology to create a very individual fashion accessory has resulted in a delightful product offering a holistic user experience,” the iF jury statement on the Apple Watch reads.
“The Apple Watch scores highly for each design detail and is an altogether extraordinary piece of design. For us, it is already an icon.”
Apple is expected to unveil further details of the Apple Watch’s launch at an event scheduled to take place on March 9 next week.
