The Asus Taichi, a Windows 8 dual-screen ultrabook, will not be released before Xmas despite promises back in October that it will be available in time for the peak buying period. An Asus spokesperson confirmed the delay in an email to PCWorld overnight. The delay comes as consumers shy away from purchasing devices running Windows 8 hardware. According to analysts consumers are upgrading current hardware with a low cost version of Windows 8.
The Taichi which can be used by two people at the same time looks like a regular ultrabook, but has a second screen on the lid. Both screens come with Full HD resolution as well as 128GB SSD and 4GB of RAM.
Several retailers have stopped taking pre-orders for the product in Australia, the USA and Europe.
