Audio Connection one of Sydney’s leading Hi Fi, home entertainment retailers is set to close their bricks and mortar operation in Leichardt, with management set to move their operation online. A second store in Drummoyne will be kept open.
The move comes as custom installers and Hi Fi retailers face mounting pressure from mass retailers and new Internet based technology.
Owned by Joseph Riediger, who recently snared the distribution rights to the Control4 IP based automation system, Audio Connection has been one of Australia’s leading Hi Fi stores specialising in high end sound systems.
A statement issued by the Company said that Audio Connection Leichhardt has a long history of supplying quality audio visual equipment and advice to customers across Australia. Regrettably, the Leichhardt store will close its doors on June 30.
In recent days the store has launched a massive store sale, in an effort to clear their entire inventory.
Audio Connection Drummoyne which is primarily a showroom for home entertainment and high end automation system will continue to operate at 137 Victoria Road Drummoyne claims Riediger.
Earlier this year Riediger said “The Hi Fi market is tough because consumers today are buying bottom end sound systems from mass retailers. We believe that can continue to sell quality Hi Fi online via our Internet site”.
“The problem that’s emerging is that a lot of consumers do not recognise good sound as a result of mass retailers selling bottom end systems that have a lot of bells and whistle knobs but fail to output high quality two channel, or multichannel sound. We need to educate consumers on what they are missing out on”.
