Meridian Audio is set to showcase an in-vehicle audio system that incorporates the car seat into an immersive listening experience.
Meridian will be showcasing its latest audio advancements at High End Munich this month, including its flagship DSP8000 XE loudspeaker.
DSP8000 XE is the first product to emerge from Meridian’s in-house Extreme Engineering Programme, which it established six years ago. Meridian calls this loudspeaker, “a result of years of investment and research at the extreme edge of audio design”.
The speaker features Meridian Bespoke Signal Mapping, which utilises digital signal processing to apply tailored crossover filters that are designed specifically for each configuration of drive units within a loudspeaker.
The E3 Bass uses specifically designed filters to expand, extend and enhance the low-frequency response of the loudspeaker, and its Full Frequency Alignment is a combination of digital filters and delays to correct the group-delay of a loudspeakers, ensuring that all frequencies reach the listener’s ear at the same time.
The company’s Vibrohaptic Audio will also be on display in Munich, the aforementioned system that generates tactile signals from the audio, which are transmitted through the listener’s seat to complement the listening experience.
“When listening to live music, or even when listening to music over larger home audio speakers, you not only hear the sound that passes through the air to your eardrum, but also feel the sound passing through your body and this experience is normally lacking from automotive audio systems, ” the company explains.
“Meridian Vibrohaptic Audio uses actuators in the listener’s seat to provide a tactile experience to complement the audio experience from the speakers within the vehicle. This results in a more exciting, engaging and authentic listening experience.”
