Japan’s leading headphone manufacturer, Audio-Technica, is opening the first specialist headphone store in Australia next week at the CBD-based Westfield shopping complex.
The Audio-Technica Lounge will display a comprehensive range of studio, Hi-Fi, DJ and noise cancelling products alongside fashion items including iPod type headphones and in-ear models. The latter have elevated the headphone specialist to the number one position in the white-hot Japanese electronic products market. In total, the Audio-Technica Lounge will include more than 100 model and colour types.
Part of Audio-Technica’s vision in opening the Lounge will be to enable users to try the products before they buy them. Accordingly there are 13 listening stations to allow visitors to check out a variety of headphone models. Seven stations feature the latest headphone release with a fixed music programme. The other six are integrated with a huge six meter lounge with comfortable cut-out seating spaces where shoppers can relax and experience the full impact of the headphones.
Listeners will also have a touch-screen palate of music genres and selection of tracks within each genre to cater to their particular tastes. A plug-in function will also enable those who want to audition the products using their own iPad or iPhone.
The Lounge has been designed by David Caon and Tom Williams at Sydney’s Jucy Design and is aimed at making a stunning visual impression among the other high fashion stores located within the $1.2 billion Westfield development, including Hugo Boss, Prada, Zara, and GAP.
The Audio-Technica Lounge opens for business at K111, Urban Level on October 28th 2010.
