Facebook-owned virtual reality headset manufacturer, Oculus, has opened Aussie pre-orders for its Quest and Rift S – just a few months after their unveiling at the Oculus Connect conference.
Whilst the Oculus website does not advise a specific release date, consumers who add the product/s to their shopping cart are advised dispatch will occur from May 22, 2019.
The release comes as virtual reality continues to gain momentum – albeit still in infancy – with competition from the likes HTC Vive Pro and Valve Index VR.
The new Oculus Rift S (A$649) is a next-generation successor to its trademark Oculus headset, with heightened wear comfort, tracking and optic tech.
Oculus’ Quest is the company’s second standalone virtual reality headset, forgoing external tracking units/sensors. The device houses tracking tech and graphics hardware within the headset itself.
The Quest is stocked as a 64GB variant for A$649, or 128GB model for A$799, with a travel case available for A$85.
