Australia’s best gamers are set to battle it out this weekend for the chance to represent Australia in the World Cyber Games finals in Monza, Italy later this year.
The Australian finals are being held in the Gold Coast Convention Centre this weekend, with gamers trying their best at games such as Counter-Strike, Warcraft, FIFA, Project Gotham Racing and Starcraft.
“The World Cyber Games is in its 6th year in Australia and 2006 has seen the heats take place everywhere from netcafes to boats to The Australian Technology Park,” said event organiser and gaming enthusiast, Karl Brown. “Action has been amped up another step with the tournaments running over 3 days in an event that is set to be one of Australia’s best ever”.
As major sponsor of the event, Samsung will be offering its new 931C monitor for the PC game competitions while all Xbox 360 championship events will be played on the Samsung R7.
“The enjoyment that comes from the digital home entertainment experience is at the heart of Samsung’s long-running involvement in World Cyber Games,” says Samsung’s General Manager – Corporate Marketing Kurt Jovais
