50 jobs in Finland were lost as Nokia Siemens Networks outsourced 60 workers from countries like India. The Finnish company outsourced 60 workers to IBX company earlier this year, which has so far found new work for 20 percent of the Finnish workers since February.
More Finland nationals are set to lose their jobs from next January, but Nokia could potentially be ramping up jobs in physical stores as they begin shutting off their online stores.
The mobile company has began closing online stores around the globe, so far including Spain, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, but most recently its own Finland online store at the end of last week after only three years of operation. 10 of Nokia’s e-tail stores are still running across various countries.
Nokia has also met the end of a lengthy legal battle of patents with German company IPCom over the weekend, with a London court ruling that one of IPCom’s notably expensive patents were valid. This comes to the dismay of Nokia which has labelled the licensing fees from IPCom as excessive and unjustifiable.
