Barbie Doll is set to be Internet enabled with her own built in video camera and editing software. The move by the dolls maker Matel is designed to stimulate interest back in the Barbie Doll brand.
Set to be launched this week in the USA this week the Company is set to use Twitter and other social networking web sites to leave clues for a national ‘scavenger hunt’ across the US.
According to the UK Daily Telegraph, Jimmy Choo, the luxury shoe designer launched a similarly innovative marketing campaign across the FourSquare site in May. The Jimmy Choo ‘trainer hunt’ saw one pair of trainers from the brand’s new line checking in at different London-based locations and updating ‘friends’ on their whereabouts. The person who managed to get to a venue before the trainers left got to pick a pair in the style and size of their choosing.
