Nintendo has announced it will be the official gaming console supplier at the 2008 Australian Open. Attendees will be able to play Wii in between matches with a chance to play Wii against tennis champ Mark Philippoussis.
Attendees at the Australian Open will be able to test their tennis skills in the Wii Championships in their downtime. The winner of the Wii Championships will then win tickets to the men’s final and get a chance to battle it out on the big screen (on Wii) with The Poo on 27 January.
“We know Mark Philippoussis is a fan of Wii, and there will be a few Wii fans lining up to take him on”, said Nintendo Australia Managing Director, Rose Lappin.
The Australian Open will run 14 – 27 January. The Wii Championships will be held at the Nintendo stand located in the Fan Fest area, outside Vodafone Arena.
Philippoussis will also appear at the Nintendo stand, Tuesday 15 January 11:00am.
