The marketing success story of the ‘Beats by Dr. Dre’ headphones made by Monster is being expanded this year in Australia with the addition of more big names – Miami Heat basketballer, LeBron James and teen pop sensation, Justin Bieber.
Since the establishment of the Beats by Dr. Dre brand in 2008, the iconic headphones have sold like hotcakes at prices as high as high-end earphone brands like Bose and Sennheiser on the back of celebrity endorsement.
It started with borrowed hip hop credibility from Dr. Dre, followed by HeartBeats by Lady Gaga, DiddyBeats by Sean Combs and now PowerBeats by LeBron James and JustBeats by Justin Bieber.
PowerBeats headphones coil around the ear and are being pushed at the active music listener for high sound quality during sports and exercise. They come in black, red and white colour patterns.
The adjustable, bendable ear hooks secure the earphones to the ear during movement, and the speakers themselves are sweat and UV resistant to suit the sporting environment.
PowerBeats earphones feature a new dual driver design with speakers than include their own subwoofer and tweeter for performance on all sound ranges.
Unlike other Beats in-earphones that cancel out background noise, the design is a mix between in-ear and tradition earphones that allow peripheral noise to flow through.
The Monster PowerBeats earphones are available now for an RRP of $229.
The JustBeats Solo On-ear headphones are a limited edition series aimed pulling a younger audience into the ‘Beats’ craze.
That’s not to say they get a kids price though – the headphones still go for a sizeable $299, exclusively from Domayne.
