Beats Electronics has released a new Bluetooth speaker called the ‘Pill’.The Beats Pill is a wireless Bluetooth speaker that contains four speakers encased in a grey body shaped like a Pill. Just like the genre of R&B and Rap, which cofounder Dr Dre contributes to, Beats don’t shy away from drug connotations.
From the material of the speaker’s grill, to the placement of drivers, the engineers at Beats have designed the pill to belt loud audio without compromising sound quality. They’ve been able to achieve this by equipping the speaker with Beats Audios’ patented algorithm and exclusive speaker modules.
Interestingly, the speaker is one of the first to feature NFC technology, which will allow you to pair it with compatible smartphones and tablets by tapping them together.
The Bluetooth speaker will play music for 7 hours continuously and in the event it is left on when you’re done with it, will shut off after 30 minutes of not detecting any signals.
The Pill can manage Bluetooth phone calls, and for devices lacking Bluetooth, will take a 3.5mm auxiliary input.
According to Beats’ local distributor, Convoy, the Pill’s Australian launch has been delayed until the New Year (2013), but when released it will be available for $259.
