BenQ’s new XL-Z Series monitors are purpose-built for ultra-smooth gaming experiences with special features to protect eyes from the detrimental effects of prolonged exposure to LED screens.

Cheekily claiming its newest gaming monitors have the “X Factor”, BenQ’s trio of XL-Z series monitors are built for the intense on-screen imagery pro gamers are regularly exposed to.
The new screens are a 27-inch XL2720Z at AUD $599, a 24-inch XL2411Z at $399 and a higher-end 24-inch XLZ2420Z at $499.
Each new screen has BenQ’s “gaming refresh rate optimisation management” or GROM capability, which BenQ says gives “professional eSport athletes and dedicated gamers onscreen precision and the visual advantage required for edging out opponents.”
BenQ also has good news for all owners of previous XL-Z gaming monitors with a free firmware update that improves on-screen performance, and while BenQ needs to install the firmware for you, the company is offering free pick-up and return to perform the update without charge.

BenQ Australia’s Josh Edwards said: “The XL-Z Series monitors pack in all of BenQ’s latest innovations designed to support gamers by providing an ultra-smooth gaming experience via improved resolutions, faster response times, and quicker refresh rates.

“As a result players obtain more fluid gameplay thanks to sharper video quality made to improve FPS performance.  Equipped with RevolutionEyes enhancements, the monitors also provide a new direct LED lighting system that enables gamers to practice for longer periods.”
These eye-care enhancements refer to two features fitted as standard across the majority of its monitor range, which are “designed to protect users’ vision from the detrimental effects of prolonged exposure to an LED screen”.
The first is “ZeroFlicker”, which eliminates backlight flickering at all brightness levels for longer gaming sessions with improved visual comfort, and the second is LBL technology (Low Blue Light), which BenQ claims as a unique feature, which “manages the exposure of blue spectrum light emitted by their screens to protect against retinal injury”.

The GROM feature lets gamers custom-build “their personal gaming experience”, enabling “the customisation of viewing preferences such as refresh rates (100/120/144Hz) display resolutions and screen sizes” for increased control in addition to greater visual comfort.

BenQ Black eQualizer mode

BenQ’s Black eQualizer is yet another new feature letting gamer adjust brightness without over-exposing white levels so items in darker on-screen areas can be much more easily seen.

There is also a “Display Mode” which lets gamers switch between nine monitor screen sizes, including:
– 17-inch (4:3)
-19-inch (4:3)
-19-inch widescreen (16:10)
– 21.5-inch widescreen (16:9)
– 22-inch widescreen (16:10)
– 23-inch widescreen (16:9)
– 23.6-inch widescreen (16:9)
– 24-inch widescreen (16:9)
– and 27-inch widescreen (16:9)
Display Model features “Smart Scaling” that lets players adjust the screen content on-the-fly to virtually any custom size without impacting controller sensitivity.

Blur Reduction technology is included to provide “substantial improvements in the way action moves across the screen”, with the technology so popular it is included on the entire lineup of XL series monitors, letting users personalise the monitor’s blur reduction settings even further.
Existing XL-Z owners wanting the free firmware update are advised to call BenQ on 1300 130 336 to arrange the free pick-up, installation and return.
