Samsung Australia is not saying how they will respond to the decision by Sony and LG to launch new 84″ 4K TVs in Australia which deliver 4 times the resolution of current Smart TVs.
Earlier this week we revealed LG Australia will shortly launch a new 4K TV after dropping plans to launch OLED TV technology.
Yesterday Sony followed LG’s lead by announcing their new 84″ 4K offering; the move could help Sony regain lost ground at the top end of the flat panel TV market claim analysts.

Called the Toshiba 84ZL2, the new TV will go on sale some time in 2013 with several different image processing engines built in that allow existing content to be up scaled to 4K.
Samsung has 4K display technology but the Company is not saying whether they will launch a large screen model in time for Xmas.
The difference between existing Full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 is that this technology delivers around 2 million pixels, 4K delivers an 8 million pixel image and a resolution of 3840 x 2160.
The bottom line is that the more pixels that make up an image, the more detail you see and the smoother curved and diagonal lines become.
